Seeds of Enquiry Fruits of Research
PSRK Haranath2011, pp: 497. For private circulation only
It was a treat to have two great compilations published by two great personalities in India in the year 2011-12.
Dr Miglani's name is synonymous with the discipline of clinical pharmacy in India. 'Editing Pharmacy' is a compilation of 263 editorials that he published in his long tenure as the founder editor of Indian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy. Most of them are brief commentaries of 2-3 pages each on topics of contemporary interest. These are quite diverse in nature (ranging from scarcity of drugs to genomics and 6th pay commission to amendments in the Pharmacy Act). Several important personalities have also been described (e.g., Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru). A good, introductory insight is provided to the readers in a crisp, easy to understand, and straight forward manner.
As one of the founding fathers of pharmacology in India, Prof Haranath hardly needs an introduction to our readers. 'Seeds of Enquiry Fruits of Research' is a description of the journey that he undertook for several decades through the world of pharmacology. The details of this discourse will appear to be familiar to anyone who is seriously in the business of pharmacology. It also contains a collection of the large number of articles that Prof Haranath published in Indian or foreign journals as well as lay press. A large number of photographs and the mention of the people associated with the author make this an interesting reading. The treatise should hopefully inspire the youngsters and bring back the nostalgia for the seniors! The book is not available for sale and those interested may ask for a soft copy (free of charge) from the author available at [email protected]
A complete collection of wisdom at one place, both these books will provide a scholarly reading at leisure.
