. The plasma and milk concentrations of nitrofurantoin and furazolidone have been determined in goats after single dose administration (10 mg/kg oral). The mean peak plasma concentrations obtained with nitrofurantoin and furazolidone were 1.86 0.83 and 2.61 0.09g/ml respectively at 4 h after administration of the drugs. The mean peak milk concentrations of nitrofurantoin and furazolidone were 1.04+0.16 and 0.57 0.05g/ml at 4 h. There was a lag in the appearance of these two drugs in the goat milk. The results have indicated that the milk obtained from treated goats may preferably be withheld from human consumption for 48 h after the administration of last dose.
